Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

Video showcasing playthroughs of main quests Awakening and Becoming that appear in the beginning of the game. I played a big role in creating these amongst many other main and side quests throughout the game.

Summary

Full time Quest Designer and Level Designer on Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, an open world action-adventure AAA game based on the Avatar universe, at Massive Entertainment. Work also includes the Secrets of the Spires DLC and From the Ashes expansion.

Avatar: Frontairs of Pandora – Main Game

Owner of multiple story critical main quests with some notable examples being: Awakening, Becoming and Revelations. In addition I also created side quests, activities and helped develop and design widely used gameplay features like the scent trails.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and release multiple main-, side- and activity quests
  • Paper design, concept and present missions to directors and Lightstorm Entertainment
  • Implementing NPC AI pathing, behavior and animations
  • Dialogue and cinematic creation and implementation
  • Polish and bugfixing of many quests, even outside of my ownership, up to release quality
  • Post release support, bugfixing and quality of life updates

Avatar: Frontairs of Pandora – Secrets of the Spires

Main quest owner of 4 missions, including the start missions of the DLC. Partial owner of some side quests and before release, during polish and bugfixing, more main quests as team-members were transferred to other projects.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the development of several main quests from ideation to finished product
  • Paper design and concepting of story critical missions and story beats
  • Quest scripting mission flow and events
  • Implement NPC AI pathing and behavior
  • Dialogue creation and implementation
  • Working with and implementing cinematics
  • Drive playtesting and presentation of quests
  • Polish and bugfixing for release
  • Post release support and hotfixing

Avatar: Frontairs of Pandora – From the Ashes

Designed and implemented the Deforestation Group Prometheus set of RDA bases containing 2 bigger and 6 smaller locations across the rainforest. In addition I also acted as Quest Designer for the open world missions connected to the RDA operations and supported the rest of the open world team with tools and expertise when it came to mission scripting for their own RDA bases.

Responsibilities

  • Ideation, creation and implementation of a full set of RDA bases
  • Story and background for the set of RDA bases to fit into the greater story
  • Level concepts, layouts and whiteboxing
  • Combat design requiring NPC, balancing, combat AI and behavior setup
  • Dialogue implementation and setup
  • Quest design for open world missions
  • Concept and design of new gameplay objects
  • Polish and bugfixing for release
